Filename: 02_2007-2008_china.jpg Filesize: 197.48kb Description: May 2008 Twenty professors and students from area colleges traveled to China on the first SW Virginia International Business Study in China trip. Participating colleges included: Emory & Henry College, University of Virginia's College at Wise, Virginia Intermont College, and Virginia Highlands Community College. Sponsored by SW Virginia International Business and Education Center, the two-week trip included meetings with Chinese affiliates of major regional businesses including Eastman Chemical Co., Bristol Compressors, etc. The Study in China program receives financial support from a U.S. Dept. of Education Business and International Education (BIE) grant. A key goal of the BIE grant is to expand international education programs at area colleges and help faculty develop new courses focusing on international trade and the SW Virginia economy. A second trip is planned for May 2009. |
