USTDA China Coalbed Methane Mission Visits SW Virginia December 12, 2003

A team of coalbed methane officials from PetroChina will visit Southwest Virginia on December 12, 2003, during their U.S. tour.  The tour is sponsored by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) in Roslyn, Virginia.  The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center organized the stop in Virginia.

The delegation will meet with officials from Department of Mining Engineering at Virginia Tech before traveling to Bluefield, Virginia, for meetings with several companies active in coalbed methane development in Virginia.  It is anticipated that PetroChina will be a buyer of U.S. consulting services and equipment for future coalbed methane projects in China.

USTDA underwrites the development of feasibility studies for large international infrastructure projects.  In addition, the agency funds official visits by foreign delegations to promote U.S. design and management services as well as equipment.
